Rat Rod Ricer & Kraut Mobiles?

Posted by admin On September - 10 - 2009

The saying goes “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”. As I have grown older and possibly a little wiser, I understand that everything in life is not going to be the way I want it or like it. That said there are still some phenomenon that exists in the automotive world that cause me to shake my head and wonder if my advanced age of 35 has now classified me as being completely out of the loop with current and cool trends. But what is “cool” anyways?

How about rusty hoods? I know this might not be news to some of you hipsters out there but there has been a growing trend of sporting rusty hoods on otherwise perfect cars. It seems to have originated with VW owners and it has in fact been going on for quite a while now. I have included a collection of pics for you to sample and try your best to comprehend. My brain actually absorbs quantum physics and the theories of absolute zero more than this trend but hey I like to play golf too. No matter how popular that game is, it is still ridiculous to chase a stupid white ball around whacking it with metal sticks.

But perhaps I have sparked something in you from reading this post and you now can’t wait to transform your rice or kraut mobile… well here is the link that you will need to git ‘er done. How to turn you cars hood into a rusty piece of junk art.

Personally, I think it is about as cool as a cat playing a keyboard. Perversely funny and unique in a very strange way!

Keep it in boost,

I don’t get this at all… I am sorry maybe I too am to old (39) but there isn’t a chance in hell that I would rust a part of my car.

Maybe cuz I live in New England, and rust has always and will always be our enemy. We have salt and snow, we try very hard to avoid rust.

I just don’t get it at all.

  3. Rob says:

Why in God’s name would you do this? This is almost as bad as when I saw a Nissan Hardbody with steel wheels on the front of the truck. For anyone that remembers that stupid fad “racers” only ran nice wheels in the back cause supposedly it looked like they were going to the track and had their drag tires on nice wheels in the trunk. Apparentely it was a front wheel drive thing. This guy failed when he forgot his Hardbody was rear wheel drive.
