Well I was running the older version of this compressor and turbine wheel on a 3.5L V6 so 8 PSI was good for that power and the spool up time was great. With a 2.5L you might get a little bit of lag with that large of a compressor but the 1JZ motor shouldn't have too much of a problem with it. You could always go with the GT-K 500 which is one step down on the turbine side but the exact same compressor. This would gurantee there's no lag but if you wanted to build more the smaller turbine wheel might to flow enough for you. Its a tough call but I think you'll be fine with the larger GT-K 550 turbine especially if you want to make more power in the future.

I sincerely doubt you will surge on either of those units from a surge line point of view. Not with that motor.
