I completely understand that there are quite a few doubters and haters out there that would love nothing more than the Fast & Furious franchise to fail miserabley and die. We actually have a couple of those people right here in our own building. You know the type right, the ones too good to go see a movie or like a band because they were doing it first or they liked the group before they "sold out" or wearing some goofy outfit that took the country 2 years to actually accept but just made them look like a dork for 18 months.

Not that we listen to these people or other haters like them or anything but it made me upset that in this unprecented time in history for the automotive industry, with manufacturers of cars and car parts alike dying and falling to the wayside, people that we communicate with in person, on the phone or on-line would be hating on anything that is bringing exposure and feel good thoughts to cars and their culture. High performance, aftermarket parts using, make more horsepower, our livelyhoods depends on types of cars. That is unacceptable!

Look, it is not about whether you think Paul Walker is a kook and should have stopped acting after "The Skulls" or not, or if Vin Diesel's best work was in Saving Private Ryan or that you hate that something you love such as the sport compact lifestyle or muscle car scene you are personally involved in get twisted and made to look a little silly on the big screen. We did love the ladies in the flick though, Gggrrrrrr! It is about re-creating a community of auto enthusiasts and getting this country to get excited again about its own roots and history of why we are all in this industry in the first place. To really debate import vs. domestic and displacement vs. replacement and go away smiling and believing what you will. And trust me, it is not about MPG and lithion-ion powered tin cans.

I guess what I am asking is that people remember the feeling of what it is like to get your drivers license and pull up to a stop light and absolutely be disgusted in the fact that a 75 year old lady is driving the identical bone stock Honda or Ford or Toyota or GM or whatver ride you are in. How much you couldn't stand that your car has the same wheels as everyone else. To go to the track for the first time and stage your car with the back wheels and be so excited to bolt something on the car to reduce a timeslip by .2 tenths of a second. It is a fire in the pit of our bellies that never seems to go away and I am so honored to be able to answer peoples dreams here at Turbonetics. The pure joy of delivering go fast goodies and performance parts to people is remarkable.

Fast & Furious 4 pulled in over $72 million dollars this opening weekend (http://www.cnn.com/2009/SHOWBIZ/Movi....ew/index.html).

Trust me people, it is no joke when a movie shatters box office records in a global recession and time when people are slashing their entertainment budgets every day. Millions and millions of people chose to go see the movie and I am so very glad they did. Besides the fact that I believed in the project enough to get our company brand placed, I am glad because people are talking about cars, and fixing up their own and going to car shows tied to the movie. All wonderful things for the industry and people that I love. So don't hate, it is a great 1 hour & 40 minutes to be entertained, watch some good looking people on the silver screen and think about all the great things that we can do to our rides. Go and check it out cause with the box office breaking records you know number FF5 is already on its way...

Later,
TurboT2
