Default Dry Sumping Buck Grand National

I am in the midst of completing a project. I am using a Johnson 5 stage dry sump pump on this build and I am wondering how the turbonetics t-66 ball bearing turbo will work with a scavenge line coming off the drain. Actually I will be scavenging the intake valley and wanted to tee into the turbo drain as well. I am using a 4.1 block and opted not to drain the turbo into the valley as I have blocked off the valley for oil control purposes.

Will the turbo be fine with me scavenging the oil for return to the oil tank?

Thanks

Absolutely should be fine. In fact on several systems where the turbo(s) are positioned lower then the oil pan (V-motor type twin systems) they frequently use a scavenge point to ensure oil doens't pool in the return line.

Default Why so much adversity

Robert - Why do you think so many people oppose this method. When I posted I was doing this you should have seen the doubters.

As a matter of fact my partner in this build is an expert builder here in NASCAR country and doubts this will be ok. Do you think it is just lack of experience?

It must be a lack of experience or history doing this. In the import world its actually quite common. Space is typically very limited and its not always possible to get the drain from the bearing housing to have enough downard fall to adequately drain the turbo. Just off the top of my head I can thing of three production turbo systems that use one. APS 350Z Single turbo kit, Speed Force Racing 350Z twin turbo kit, Precision Turbo Ford Focus turbo kit.
