Default Want to Turbo my BBC in a 39 Ford

I have a fairly stock Big Block Chevy I want to go twin turbo. I want this to be very street friendly I drive the car a lot. I am not afraid of the fab I can tig weld and machine. I just need some direction and kind of a guide of what parts I need to get started?

Well there's a few things to consider. First question is how much power you are looking to make.

I would like to make 600 to 700 max I really just want to have fun and the wow factor of opening the hood and having two turbos under the hood of a 1939 ford. The motor is very stock it maybe makes 400hp. I would like to use a carborator to keep the cost down. I can do all of the welding and fabing of the headers and plumbing myself I am hoping this keeps the cost down.

For a Big Block Chevy there's a few turbos that work for that power goal. The GT-K 500s or 550s would be a good choice. You'd also need a pair of wastegates for a twin turbo, an intercooler would be a good idea and a bypass or blow off valve to handle surge. Then it would just be a matter of tuning the car for boost with the carb. For starters though I would highly recommend you pick up a book called Maximum Boost by Corky Bell and read through it at least once. There is a lot of good information in there about turbocharging, system planning, and information you would need before you got started.
