Identity of T3/T4 turbocharger? SN KD0601464
Although the dimensions look a lot like the Turbonenetics, this Ebay unit came without any manufacturer's identification. It claims to be:
TYPE: TO4E
PART NO: T3/T4
SERIAL NO: KD0601464
I don't see a simular identification stamping on the Tubronetics compressor housing. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Bob Wilson

It could be a knock off or someone who used some Turbonetics parts to build their turbo. Try calling Customer Support at 805-581-0333 and they should be able to tell you if that serial number is in fact a real Turbonetics unit..

Thanks but no need. I found it is a Chinese knock-off. I suspect there may be an intellectual property knock-off issue. It looks dang close and for $130, pretty well matches what we know the Chinese have been doing:

I'll be taking the unit apart to inspect the bearings and make sure all of my asumptions are correct. If there is an interest, I'll post URLs to my project as it develops.
BTW, I just scored a differential pressure gage, mechanical, from Ebay. I'll use it to test installation options and later the performance. But you' all probably know all of this already.
Chat at you later.

most of the Turbonetics turbos have a serial number decal on the backing plate right between the comp housing and turbine housing which we can look up. The serial numbers start with T- and 5 numbers.
