Default testing the BOV?

2002 Nissan Spec V.

There is a fluttering noise from my engine bay at or around 2700 rpm. It happens every time since the first day I completed my install. The car is drivable, but the noise bothers me.

There is no exhaust leak. Having driven the car for 5 months, I am positive there is no exhaust leak.

I am 99.996% certain the noise is related to the BOV.

What are some basic steps to test the BOV?

...disconnect the vacuum line?
...disconnect the BOV all together, and drive at low rpm (under 2700 rpm)?

Thank you

You can test it by applying pressure to the upper port and making sure the gate starts closing as pressure is applied. Switching to vacuum should pull the gate open briefly. It's tough to truely test it without it on the car. You may try adding some tension to the screw at the top to keep the valve from doing that. Also you could add a boost signal to the lower port in addition to the top port to get more control on the valve and hopefully get rid of it.

Not doubting your install but based on some recent posts did you make sure your BOV was hooked up properlly. See this thread for details.

my boost gauge reads 22 at idle. it starts making fluttering noise around 10 to 18 (boost gauge reading).

i'm adding another boost signal to the bottom port on the BOV. i will let you tomorrow. hopefully, it will stop fluttering.

thanks

Fluttering noise is still there.

I wish I had another BOV to test it out. I may have to buy their redesigned BOV.

Aside from the noise, the kits work perfectly.

Have you tried adjusting the BOV set screw at all?
