Default Questions for Rob

Questions, with a built 383, 225 Heads.
1) With 2 T72's with .81 A/R how much HP should I expect? (estimated)
2) With 2 T76's with.81A/R how much HP should I expect? (estimated ) I can get 2 T76's S-trim with BB for great price, but it will be about 5 weeks beefore I get them.Person has 2 T72's S-trim with BB in stock and will ship them overnight at no charge. Also he will give me $75.00 off price if I get the 72's. Car is going to be street/strip. I was told the 76's will run better at track and still be ok for street, just turn boost down.I was told by 15 reputable shops ,that sell turbonetic turbos ,that either ones would work but people are 50% for The 72's and 50% for the 76's. Most of them even called Turbonetics directly while I was on hold or on 3 way. So to get down to it what should I do wait for the 76's or get the 72's? Want to achive around 650 rwhp for street then be able to get 1200 rwhp or a little more for track. This question is mostly directed to Rob ( because he seems to have great knowledge with turbos ) but any fedback from anyone is appreciated. Thanks.

Well the bottom line I think is that either pair of turbos should get you into the 1200 WHP range at big boost pressure. Both the T72 and T76 compressor are capable of over 85 lb/min of air. Given a good Ve on your motor and the exhaust gas to drive them you should be able to get 1700 CHP or so out of the pair. Now please keep in mind that is a completely theoritcal default number because theres no way for me to know every detail of the motor and even if I did it would still be a guesstimate. So basically I guess what I'm saying is that either turbo should meet your CURRENTLY STATED goals. Now if later you decide to go nuts and ask for 2000 WHP don't come back and yell at me but if 650 WHP on the street and 1200 WHP on the track is your goal the T72s should do the job. I know you have a big displacement motor but keep in mind thats a lot of turbine to spool...

Thanks Rob for the quick reply. Your answer is basically what I was hoping for. Wish everyone would give me answers like you without all the waffeling. I promise I have no plans to go nuts and ask for 2000whp, well not any time soon

Well you know its really tough to spec out a turbo even when you know every last detail. Thats why I always state repeatedly that its a best guesstimate regardless. In the end flow charts and compressors can only tell you so much. It can get you very close to the turbo you need but you won't know 100% until its on the car running. In this case its not as bad because you are running a pair of either one. Technically 100% of the people you asked are correct. The T76 AND T72s would do the job with your stated goals. But given that the T72s are available now and should meet the need I see no reason to wait for the T76s. Either pair means tons of boost and over 85 lb/min of air PER TURBO... 1200 WHP should be a given with either set.
