Default Running turbocharger with no air filter.

Hey all, I'm presently finishing up my built VQ35DET setup using a GTK-850/650 hybrid turbo, but due to some space constraints have been running it with no intake charge pipe or filter.

So far it seems fine. I've driven it in the rain even with no issue. It's not directly open to incoming air but sits in the same location where the Turbonetics single turbo kit places the turbo.

Looking at the compressor inlet, it does have a little dust/grime around it but not much to speak of. I'm concerned with the possible side effects of running it like this for any particular length of time. I know it's not GOOD for the motor/turbo but I'm more interested in the possible BAD side effects.

Thanks.

ok mate on Drag days this is ok!!! but as a daily driver its a Big NO NO
number of factors

1. something in engine bay comes loose like a nut or bolt and its close to the turbo and gets sucked in well i wouldnt like 2 see the end result

2. something from the road / tarmac gets bounced up into ur engine bay and gets sucked into your Turbo not good!!!

3.Well continous unfilter air (foreign bodies) getting into turbo will wear the components alot quicker and ur turbo will have a shorter life!!!
