Default Torque Master Stage 1 question

I have a 98 12v cummins that I got a t-58 turbo for. Im curious, can I upgrade this turbo to the 66? Is the turbine side the same?

Im currently making 546hp at the rear wheels and im afraid the 58 is simply to small, so I have not put it on yet for fear of destroying it.

thanks,
Jeff

Cool, let me know.

also one more quick question. I bought this turbo from diesel dynamics (it says turbonetics on it though, not Edge). Edge no longer sells their version of this turbo. Does turbonetics still warranty it for a year?

I noticed edge doesnt sell them anymore and they told me they dont warranty them either, you guys do.

Well Turbonetics was actually the source of Edge turbochargers anyways so I'll try to find out for sure for you.

Yeah I knew you guys made them for Edge. I was involved with that whole first production run fiasco and had one of the faulty ones, but just opted for money back instead of a WSB exchange.

Just FYI, as I said, this turbo came from diesel dynamics, which used to be owned by Edge. Edge recently pulled the plug on DD, and dropped the turbo from their line.
I dunno if that makes a difference or not, however....

Here's the info I got:

Quote:
That T58 turbo will not hold up to that fuel and power he is looking for. The T58 is designed for the 450 bhp range. He can put the 66 on the same frame and it will work well.

Thanks for the info, Robert.
I already am putting the 58 on the truck. I'll see how it works for a while and then if need be, I might send it in for a 66 upgrade.

I just got this turbo, its brand new. is there any chance turbonetics will still warranty it? Its from diesel dynamics when they closed up shop.

If it was purchased from an authorized vendor new then it carries the standard 12,000 mile 12 month warranty if for some reason it fails. Upgrades will be a cost though..

Thanks for teh info robert. Im sure diesel dynamics was an authorized vendor and they were the ones that worked with you guys to develop it (they were owned by edge).

On another note, Im not really seeing how this turbo is limited to 450hp. at 550-ish, Im only making a little over 30psi with it. I havent really paid to much attention to EGT yet though.
Out of curiousity, do you guys rate your diesel turbos as crank hp? The standard in the diesel industry is usually more rear wheel related...just fyi. only reason I ask is your catalog states the stage 1 is a 550hp turbo.

Its a very linear turbo. It doesnt "hit" like im used to. It just build boost slowly but linearly.

Turbonetics typically rates all turbos at crank power rates.
