Default Getting a FMIC made?

How, if at all possible, can a new fmic be made for a car so desperatley needing one?

Ill back up.

There is a group of enthusiasts out there that drive turbo charged PT Cruisers. These cars have the same motor and turbo as the SRT-4. Very strong motors capable of handling 500ish whp. In fact, many of the SRT parts also work with the PT Cruiser GT. Unfortunatley, the fmic is not one of them.

Alot of companies jumped on the PT as soon as they went turbo, but it was too soon and the go fast following had not caught on yet. Recently the market has picked back up as evidenced on performance PT sites like PTCrew.com. Granted the number of these things running around is nto as plentiful as the SRTs are, but many of the SRT-4 owners are growing out of thier neons and moving into the PT turbo.

The numbers are starting to pop up with quite a few 11sec daily driven PT Cruisers and upward traps of 115mph!!!! Many basic bolt on PTs are in the low 14s to mid 13s. What would really help is the addition of a fmic to the market. Currently, there are not any manufactuers of this product and a line of people waiting to buy.

Hopefully, this can be something that can be considered. I know a PT is a little unorthodox, but the potential of these cars is great!! Just needs a little more aftermarket help. Plenty of members are willing to contribute to aid in this seeing production.

Thanks

RJ

Well that is the beauty of Turbonetics/Spearco. It doesn't necessarily have to be a kit for them to make an intercooler. Spearco can and will make any intercooler you can draw. So the bottom line is if someone in the PT world was enterprising and willing to get dimensions down for an intercooler Spearco will make it to their spec. Then its a few couplers and pipes away from a kit. Obviously a tuner shop would be suited for this but anyone with some decent mechanical ability and access to a PT could make this happen. I'll bring it up to the sales manager but there are several other projects in the works right now..

would it be better to provide a stock unit to get locations of entank inlet/outlets? Dimensions can be given along with clearances. What if a PTer were to drop by so you all can take a look at it?

Absolutely. If you have a stock core laying around and send it to Spearco and ask they make a better one I'm sure that would work perfectly well. Let me see if I can get the Sales Manager to chime in on the best process to get something like this done.

I just talked to the Sales Manager. And this could be absolutely done. First, we need to know how many committed people we have. Can you get a count? The next thing they will need is a core/car to look at. This will all be based on how many units we are talking about. Lets start with that.

Of course they are going to be asking questions such as price and timeframe. I already have a list of people wanting to buy one, but what are we looking at ballpark?

I will see if I can get a stock fmic to you all. If I lived a little closer, Id seing mine by the shop lol

Considering the price of an SRT-4 intercooler i would expect it to be no less than that. I can't give a price until Spearco has a chance to look at the dimensions of the core that is needed, etc. The Stage 2 SRT-4 intecooler runs about $850: http://www.shopatron.com/product/pro....19185.0.0.0.0

We can make cooler to suit either a core design like stock or a better sized Intercooler which we would need a sketch on. We have a intercooler worksheet which I can email to you guys and start a core for you which then we can produce as needed once we get that filled out. If you guys need that sheet please shoot me a email @ emendez@turboneticsinc.com and I will return the email with the sheet.
