Default turbonetics 2005 mustang gt kit

i am buying the turbonetics kit for my 05 mustang gt..i have the option to get a bigger turbo for an extra $200.00. the car is stock right now. ( i will be building a short block for it over the next few months.) if i was to get a 76mm turbo, how would that affect the tune that comes with the kit..i plan on running 8-9 psi..i know i will need to get it dyno tuned when i build the motor, but would the tune that comes with it be safe for now w/ the 76? thanks!!

No way that would be ok. the out of box kit uses a 60-1 compresor. The tune for the kit was built around 8 PSI of boost on a 60-1. A 76mm compressor is MUCH MUCH MUCH bigger than that. The response time and boost curve are going to be different as is the Mass Flow Rate at the same pressure ratio. I think the 6-7 PSI range would be ok but I think the bottom line is if you are going to run a 76mm compressor you should have the car dyno tuned for both the boost curve and the AFR and timing curve to ensure you don't have any issues. Dyno tuning can be expensive but not as exepnsive as blowing a motor.
