Default 2JZ-GTE: GTK 650 or 850?

Hey guys,

I am planning to go for a single conversion on my 2JZ.

First step will be to push out the stock bottom end's maximum which should be around 600-650 whp.

I already have a Turbonetics T3/T4 on my Celica Turbo. Now I want to have a Turbonetics Turbo again

What I now is, that the new single should be a GTK but the question is which of them I should pick?
I know that the 650 should be ok for myplans. But who knows that will be later. Maybe I decide to biuld a new bottom end, then the 650 would be too small, right? Thats why I have the GTK 850 in mind, too.
I am just afraid that this Turbo could be too laggy for my first stage single conversion.

Are there any people that have some experience with this Turbos on a 2JZ?
Is there a big difference between the 650 and 850 in terms of spool-up?
When will the 850 start to make boost on the 2JZ?

Thanks a lot!

The 850 out of box runs a much larger turbine wheel than the 650 so the spool up will be affected by both the larger compressor wheel and the larger turbine wheel. I can't say how the 850 will do on that specific motor but my guess is its going to lag a bit as its a 68 mm turbine wheel. The 650 turbine wheel would likely be your best bet for your current setup.
