Possible Turbine Wheel Upgrade for Older Stage 3?
I'm thinking of sending the turbo in for an inspection and possible seal replacements and was wondering if there is a possible upgrade for the turbine wheel on my 50 trim for a quicker spool. I thought I might as well upgrade it if it's getting re-balanced. The part number for the turbo is 11022-BB built back in 2006. It's a T3/T4e 50 trim with the old stage 3 turbine wheel. It has a 0.63 a/r turbine housing.
Thanks,
Christopher

It would be pretty costly as the turbine house and center section would both have to be changed out but yes you could.

So, almost cheaper to start with a new turbo? I was thinking just a different shape wheel but same diameter to fit in the housing. The upper RPMs with boost are good so I don't think clipping the existing blades will do me much good.

The wheel is radically different between the two and would need a new housing for sure and quite possibly a new bearing housing. It might be easier to start with a new one yes.
