Broken Bolt on turbo housing
My brother Turbo bolts come loose every now and then. The 5 bolts that connect the downpipe to the turbo housing. Anyway this morning my Dad who cant fix anything without breaking it took it opon himself to tighten them. I'm sure you can guess what happened next. The very top bolt broke about half way down the hole. I would say a good 1/4 of a inch inside the turbo housing. Anyone got anyideas on what I can do?

If you snapped the bolt off inside the turbine housing you might be able extract it but a better idea would be to replace the turbo. ALso give me a few minutes and I'll give you some other part numbers for lock washers/washers that I gave to Darickster to prevent this from happening.

Call Turbonetics on Tuesday and tell them a bolt snapped off in the turbo and ask for a new one. Also ask for the following part numbers:
30739 M8-1.25x25mm bolts Qty: 4
30700 M8-1.25x20mm bolt Qty: 1
30589 M8 flat washers Qty: 10
30593 M8 lock washers Qty: 5
When you install the new turbo use the following order when re-installing the bolts. On the bolt slide one flat washer (30589), followed by one lock washer (30593), followed by one flat washer (30589). When those are on the bolt in that order install the bolt into the turbine housing and downpipe. Darickster did this and hasn't had an issue with the bolt backing off since. If they give you any flak for asking for those let me know. Ask for Steve again and tell him Robert told you to call and get those part numbers.

Thanks Robert! This sucks really bad cause now we'll have 2 broken down cars. This blows big time. Acording to my dad he got the TQ wrench to about 20 ft pounds and the bolt snapped. He sadi he didnt think these type of bolts could handle the heat and made them brittle. Any chance of that?

I doubt it. I've never snapped a bolt on a turbine housing before.
