open wastegate
I have a scion tc and im wanting to run a open wastegate, I was woundering if I would have to get a new tune for my car if I did this! A friend with a srt4 gained horse power and sounded awsome, and im wanting to do the same. All feedback would be awsome!

With the amount of boost you are running theres no point in doing it. Turbonetics tests every kit they design with a recirc setup and a open setup to test their return design. WIth the way the Tc kit is you would see very little to no gains by doing this and it would require quite a bit of fabwork to do it anyways. You'd have to cut off the current dump tube and weld a piece of steel over the hole in the downpipe. Then you would have to fab up a tube to route the exhaust gas out under the car. You can't dump in the engine bay as the 1600 degree F exhaust gas mught melt one or two things.. not worth in my honest opinion.

Alright thanks for the feedback! Im installing a qtp electric cut out, on my exhaust. So I think I get the sound I want out of that anyways. But im building the motors in a few months so do you think the open wastegate would be beneficial in the future though?

Its possible. Depends on how much boost you are looking to run and how much power you are trying to make.

I suppose a dumped wastegate wouldn't hurt but there are plenty of cars making in excess of that power and boost level with a recirculated wastegate discharge. Altough if you really want to and are going to build the motor you might as well have someone make you a new wastegate discharge tube and downpipe.
