Correct safe fuel pressure and sound of rapto bov
My friend has an 05' scion tc and installed the turbonetics kit. What should the fuel pressure be at idle and under boost?
Also should the raptor bov flutter when it blows off or should it be a constant blow off.
His fuel pressure is reading 46 at idle and drops to 40 under boost.
His blow off valve flutters as it blows off.
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks

That fuel pressure looks ok.... As for the blow off valve if it flutters when he shifts at full boost he needs to loosen the upper adjustment screw.

And it that doesn't do it, tighten the adjustment screw... But follow the directions for the BOV that is provided with the kit, like quarter of a turn at a time.
When my kit was first installed, the BOV was a consistant PSSHHH... Then I loosened the adjustment screw then got the flutter sound...
I kinda like it, though all my friends call it the turkey call LOL.

I think he has it loosened all the way, I guess he'll have to turn it in. I'll let you know of the results. He's also only getting around 5 to 5.5 lbs of boost and he put the tightest spring in. He was going to flip the cap inside to try to get the full 8 lbs, is this also normal?

Are you sure he has the boost signal in the right port. It needs to be in the uppermost port closest to the logo..

pretty sure cuz when he first installed it and went to take it for a ride it instantly boosted to around 20 lbs and shut the engine off. Then he switched it and it was working, just not to 8 lbs.

OK I think you have some stuff in the wrong place. The WASTEGATE needs to have the signal going to the BOTTOM port furthest away from the logo (wastegate being the one that sits on the Exhaust manifold right next to the turbo) the BOV which is just past your air filter on the intake pipe needs the signal in the TOP port which is closest to the logo. Make sure both are correct please.

These should help:
WASTEGATE: Note the line going to the LOWER port with the top port open
Blow Off Valve: Note the line going to the TOP port with the lower one open

I'll check it out tomorrow probably, I didn't help him install the kit but after he blew his first engine and I helped him change it, (which is one of the longest engines I ever changed time wise) I just want to make sure I don't have to do it again anytime soon. He put a plastic tee in the wastegate line to hook up a boost controller and it melted and blocked the line giving full boost then the timing chain snapped and #1 piston exploded. We were checking for compression to see if the valves bent and happen to look down #1 plug hole and were able to see the rings. Hmm... that's not going to work too well and knew it was toast and just got another one. I'll get you some pics of the engine when we take it apart if you want, I looked in the pan and you can see the top of the rod is bent like a J. Anyways, I'm just getting into to this turbo thing and am trying to help him out, so I appreciate your help. I'll keep you posted with the results.
Thanks again Robert
