02-03 SpecV Kit: problem aligning the downpipe
Tried for two days and could not align the downpipe to the WG + turbine flanges to start threading in all the bolts.
If I align to the WG, then the five-bolt holes on the turbine side are ~4mm off; even with the spring behind the WG flange fully compressed.
If I align to the turbine flange, then the two-bolt holes on the WG side are ~4mm shifted to driver side.
Has anyone else run into this problem?
I am going to call Ed today...what is Turbonetics Tech Support business hours?
I am so frustrated All the other steps of this BOLT-ON kit seems straight forward and easy to follow.

Did you already connect the bolt on the lower support bracket of the downpipe? If so it needs to be removed as that will make alignment difficult..

No, the lower support bracket is not connected.
It seems like the DP to WG gasket (~2mm) is not meant to be there or the 5-bolt holes on the dp flange to the turbine need to be eliptical to allow for some clearance.

Oh it goes there and it will fit. The clearances are very tight no doubt. It took me a while to line them up on the installs I have done. used a pry bar to move the wastegate discharge flange into position when I did it...

Is it right to have that much stress on the bolts? Even if I could muscle the flanges to line up...still figuring out how to do this, it feels like the dp and/or bolts are going to break due to the extreme pressure

They should be fine. I mean dont get three guys to pull on the pry bar but a little pressure shouldn't hurt. Also see zeniacs post on b15sentra.net.

That second pic shows one of the toughest things I had to face with this install. We ended up tightening up the bolt on the down pipe as far as it could go, and then struggle to slip the other one into the wastegate. To tighten it was another horror story, but we took a wrench and grinded down the head so it was slimmer. I then stood there for quite a few minutes and slowly tightened them both.
