Default Oiling issue with TC76 and ls1 camaro

We are having some major smoking issues with my brand new TC76MPS that I purchased from forcedinductions and we are using a -4 an oil feed line with the screen on the oil intake fitting and a large -10 an gravity fed drain which has a straight downhill path the the top of the oil pan. I am wondering if we need to try an oil line restrictor to stop the smoking issue since the ls1 has high oil pressure? What your experience with turbo ls1 motors and you TC series turbo? My turbo shop thinks it is the turbo seals, but this turbo has zero miles on it? I believe the TC unit is a hybrid turbo that Jz @ forced inductions came up with. Please help me with this problem. Thanks.

Turbonetics does not recommend an oil restrictor of any kind on their turbochargers. I would start by double checking the oil return line of course. Aside from that has everything on the car been checked already? PCV? Compression/Leakdown tests? If the car all checks out good and the turbo was purchased brand new from FI.com you can send the unit in for inspection and repair free of charge.

Leakdown is good this is a brand new forged low compression shortblock so it is healthy. We are using the factory PCV so maybe it needs a better vent. The turbo is brand new so I think it is not the problem. There are lots of people on ls1tech that use restrictors with their turbo's including the turbonetics with great results. They just say be very careful with the size of restrictor as to not starve the turbo of oil. They say don't go smaller than .070. You are supposed to start with a large restrictor and go smaller until the smoking stops. I would rather not use a restrictor so maybe if we vent the crankcase better since the factory PCV was not designed for FI? Your thoughts?

I don't want to speak for the LS1 community as they know your car much better then I do. I was just stating that Turbonetics does not recommend an oil restrictor on any of their turbos. For inspection you can contact Turbonetics directly at 805-581-0333 and let them know whats going on. They will issue you a WA number and have you send the unit in. They will tear it down and inspect it from there. I would caution you to check/change everything else first as it will take a few days at the least for them to completely disassemble and inspect the unit.
