That's exactly what it is. The first downpipe i received was actually defective. The pipe ending extended out past the flange. Not very noticeable, but it wound up cutting a groove into the turbine mating surface. They replaced the turbo and the downpipe because of it. The new one doesn't have that machining error, but it still leaks slightly. Not like the last one that burned my hoodliner though.

is your manifold a cast unit or a Stainless unit that was welded?

It's a stainless one. The pipe is welded to the flange.

That sounds like one of the first batch of manifolds. Can you post a pic please?

Here you go. You can see the pipe edge extending out past the flange (the flange is welded on)

I actually was referring to your exhaust manifold not your downpipe.

The manifold is cast. but I'm not having any issues with that. Why would you be asking about the exhaust manifold if it has nothing to do with the area that has the exhaust leak?

Because the first batch of Spec V kits that were shipped had Stainless welded exhaust manifolds that had matching downpipes with them. If you tried to use a different downpipe it might have been off a little. Enough to possibly cause a leak. Since you have a cast manifold thats not the case but I wanted to rule that out.
