Default Poor Idle?

I just got my car back togather last knight and it is idling rough. The Idle is not steady. It will idle at around 1000 and sound ok and than drop to around 600 and sometimes die. At around 3000 it comes on gr8 and seems good. I am getting more backfire and a strong gass smell sometimes. I have checked all the charge tubes for a leak and all seem good. Any help would be gr8.

Either the MAF is installed backwards or you have a vacuum leak.. What is your vacuum showing at idle? It should be about 20 in/hg

That would be another problem. My boost guage is not working wright. When Iturn the key it resets itself and then goes to zero. I've checked my vacume lines and they seem to be ok. I'm not sure if I could even hook the MAF up wrong. I never took it off the intake pipe.

Just drove the car again and it spits and sputters from idle to around 3000 rpms the boost guage either reads around 12 in/hg or it drops to the pin like theres no power to the guage. 1 of the codes it's showing is random missfire.

You've either got a serious vacuum leak somewhere or a blown MAF...

I had the spits and sputters problem before at the Emission Test facility The needle on the AFR gauge was stuck at RICH and car would not rev pass 3K. I turned the car off and wait a couple minutes, turned it back on...spits and sputters for 10 seconds and ran fine after that. I never figured out the problem...just a speculation that the engine was flood with fuel, since the Tech did off/ign, off/ign several times to see the sweeping motion on my Prosport Gauges.

I have had the random missfire code before P0300 & P0301. That turned out to be "BAD" fuel. The problem was resolved with a bottle of Octane Booster...cleared the code and it never came back.

Btw, I have an 02 SpecV with the Turbonetics kit.

GL.

I have checked every vacume line and all the charge tubes. I have driven the carr again and still runes like shit. the boost guage is still acting up. And when the guage seems to work it shows that i'm boosting around 11 to 12 pob (not good for stock bottem end) and I don't know where to start. Do you think i need an idle relern?

I loosened all the intake bolts and the throtle body and all the brackets on the intake and retitend them last knight to see if that was the problem (had the intake off to do some pollishing and painting) and no luck it runs the same. Note: It runs gr8 at first start up when cold. I think your rite about the vacume leak or my MAF is bad. PS: I realy take my time when working on my car because it's mine i pay for it and want it to run good as well as be quick i drive it when ever we go on long day trips and don't run it too hard.
