how much power can a t3/t4 60 trim support?need big help cho
I am completing the rebuild of my gti-r and ned a turbo to reach 450 bhp.
I know the turbonetics gt-k is the bet turbo with great spool and performance, but i would like to stay with a JB turbo to cut down costs, even if it will cause more lag
Was thinking about a t3/t4 turbo,with t04E compresor housing,60 trim wheel and a stage 3 turbine wheel on a .63 housing.
Now the question is...will this turbo support 450 bhp?
Or i should go for a bigger unit, like the 60 serie with typ S cover?
I have seen lots of different opinions on the 60-1 series turbos...lot of lag and poor efficiency...
My car will be used on the street and even if I know the ball bearings are much better in flow and spool up time I prefer to keep the JB turbos, mainly for cost and also for ease of rebuilding.
What about the T3/60-1 turbo? Is it true that to have full benefit of the larger compressor housing I should go for the .82 turbine housing?
Any idea on spool up time of the T3/60-1 and other T3/T4E turbos?
Full boost expected at how many rpm?
Differences in lag/advantages top end power between the stage 3 and 5 wheels and .63 and .82 turbine housings?
Please post your opinions and experiences,I am open to suggestions!
Will probably run 400-450bhp on the rebuild engine, but I don?t want to max out the turbo at that level.
I already have a Tial 44mm wastegate and a Lovefab equal length manifold.
Head has been gas flowed and port polished, with Jun 272? cams and Jun valve springs and retainers, so I will run a 8500 rpm red line.
Does the gt-k 500 is oil and water cooled?
i hope that i will find here the answer to my power goals!
Thank you very much,
David
