Default New turbonetic owner Not happy w/numbers-Help

I have nissan 350Z 2003 6MT stock exhaust. My turbonetic kit does not has catalitic convert. Just got it inst. on friday. My car dyno on dynojet 329whp and 347torque @ 70F and 75% humidity i wasn't 2 happy. At the shop they told me that my ecu will reset after 50-75miles and i be able to get higher numbers. Next day i dyno it again 345whp and 350torque @ 67F and 45% humidity. Not happy again turbonatic claims 365-385whp. I spoke to rep. from turbonetic and he told me that this # are 2 low and either something is wrong or i have a boost leak. He also told me that there is no such thing like ECU reset. Can someone tell me if those are right numbers and why i had higher whp # on second day, could they increased my boost to make me happy???

First off- what kind of dyno was it?
Do you have a dyno graph?
What was the peak boost it was hitting?
What did the AFR's look like?

The ECU thing is NOT true. This is a custom reflashed ECU, not the stock ECU which supposedly has multiple variable maps. If all of the above questions are answered and check out then I say you indeed have either a boost or exhaust leak.

Get back to me with those answers and maybe I can help.

dyno - dyno jet

A/F ratio - between 3000 - 5900 rpm's is about 11 than at 6000rpm goes dovn to 10

peak bust was about 8 - 8.5

How much hp you got after dynoing your car first time after instal. your turbonetic kit. If you could also tell me what kind the dyno was it and what kind of mods not including turbo kit.

Thanx

Did you do a before and after DYNO? All DYNOs can read different so it's always a good idea to do a before and after so you can see the gain. We have a shop right next door with a DYNOPAK. It is typically about 10 - 20HP low, so we always do a before and after so that we can make sure the HP gain is in line with what the product is supposed to do.

My 2 cents...

Typically on a proper install with this kit I see the 365-385whp range. Sometimes cars make a little more or a little less. This is assuming it's all in proper working order on a strong motor.

Your AFR's go down to 10.0? That could be robbing you of a decent amount of power. I'd first try double checking for leaks on all of the piping (you can get a length of hose and put your ear to it to listen around). Check all the couplers and t-bolt clamps on the intake side. Make sure your plenum and intake manifold are seated properly. Also, many times when people run rich or lean with the reflash it's because the fuel bucket wasn't modified properly. If you drill it out to be slightly larger than specified in the instructions, you will run rich. It might help to pull the fuel bucket and check the work there.

Other than that there are a few things you can try, but most people just buy a UTEC or something and tune the car. Unfortunately, this doesn't fix the issue with fuel delivery and it's just smoothing over the problem.

My own peronal car dynod 375whp with just the turbo kit and exhaust, and later dynod 412whp with some other minor bolt ons and running 9psi. This was on the reflash.

A quick and preliminary way to check for leaks is to hook up 2 boost gauges, 1 between the turbo & wastegate and 1 after the throttle body. This will show you very quickly what PSI the turbo is producing and what PSI the engine is actually seeing. You can also do this with 1 boost gauge, just do 2 runs and hook it up the 2 different ways for each run.

If there is a discrepancy, run a more in-depth check for leaks.

Or for the less scrupulous - the old soapy water/brake cleaner method! lol

Plus 10000 on the before and after dyno. If you didn't do a before dyno how do we know your car was making 200 WHP stock? Aside from that everything Craig and Jesse have told you should be checked.

Just got installed 3" JIC DE type2 exhaust $860 fits perfect with turbonetix. Dynoed my car at same shop where i had my turbo kit installed and on same dyno. Gains are - an extra 20.8whp and 29.5wfp . Exhaust Sounds good tips are oval. The think that only bothers me is that the both tips stick out like 1" farther out than stock tips, but i think is just me.

Before dynojet at 8.5 psi
whp - 344.1
wtq - 349.3

Now same shop dynojet at 8.5 psi + jic exhaust
whp - 364. 9
wtq - 378.8
