Default scion tc raptor BOV questions (sorry its a long)

i have a 2005 scion tc with the turbonetics kit with uni-chip and have some questions on the raptor blow off valve!!

1. i was wondering if the raptor bov should sound like a shutter or should it just be one constant phhsssssss like a srt-4 mopar bov.

2. i know that the vacuum lines are all in the right spot we own a automotive shop and me and a tech put the kit in and triple checked everything its all right also we did a custom set up on my brothers car and had a good idea what went were...... (i think we set a record time of 3 hours install to lol.)

3. one way i was worried it wasnt working cause we got board over the weekend and tried hooking up a duck call and we put it inside the recirculating tube and drove it and nothing so we filped it thinking it was backwards nothing so we got concered and took it out and left te tube off and reved it to see if we could feel the air getting blow out and there wasnt anything.....

4.also when the tube wasnt connected to the bov we were hearing the shutter sound through the air filter and not by the bov??? why is that!?!?

5. sorry theres alot of qustestions thats why i split it all up well the main thing is whats the bov supposed to sound like and why would i hear the shutter noise through the air filter when the RECIRCULATING TUBE WANST connected to the bov............

I own a Spec V and mine did that shuttering sound at first turned out i had a vacume line wrong. Just make sure that there is Vac in the top port of the BOV and nothing in the bottom port. I tried hooking up both but it made that shuttering sound, with vac in the top and boost in the bottom.

When it is operating properly it should make a single psssshhhh sound. you may have to adjust that screw on top to get it right. All i did was drive it get it to full boost and let off and listen. If it still makes that shuttering sound loosen it up about a 1/4 turn, lefty loosey righty tighty, keep an eye on the boost guage you don't want to get it so loose that it opens too early venting boost. But just go at it slowly and steadily and you will find that happy spot.

That shuddering sound is called compressor surge, it is the compressed air hitting the closed throttle plate and forcing the bov barely open then it snaps back shut causing the air to try to spin the compressor wheel backwards which is a bad thing. I tweaked and tweaked on mine and got rid of it but at 8 psi its not gonna be very loud since it is recirculated you will be able to hear it it just won't be very loud.

Double check all the vaccume lines and make sure none popped off or split i had a problem with that too talk about a headache. all i gotta say is be patient

Agreed. If its not blowing off smooth then you likely have the boost signal line in the wrong port. There are two ports on the BOV. The signal from behind the throttle body should be going to the TOP port closest to the red Turbonetics logo. There should be nothing in the bottom port..
