turbo rebuild
Last week we had a warped exhaust manifold and a fried bearing housing. Turbonetics asked for the entire turbo assembly so they could replace the whole thing. Cool, love the warranty.
They noted that tC's run hot and have been making adjustments to the kit. Set us up with new parts, including a new water-cooled housing. Nice upgrade!
Well, it took a few trips over there to get all the parts we needed (gasket missing, then studs missing, etc.) Lesson #1: LOOK IN THE BOX while you're still there and make sure you've got everything you need.
Problem 1: the new manifold is thicker. This means the nuts on the studs dont' thread as completely. I'm going to trust that they are "good enough". Thicker manifold also meant a problem sealing to the block (raised imprint in the way). Had to (with Turbonetics approval) modify the manifold slightly to make a good fit.
Problem 2: Bearing housing and turbo clocked incorrectly for the tC. Again, got permission to reclock. Good thing we did, because some of the bolts were loose!
OK, it's been a bit of extra work... but I have to say, the car does run sweeter now, faster spool up, spools up at lower rpm than before, really nice. Here are a couple of pics showing the connection for the coolant lines:

Glad to see it all got worked out. I'm assuming you worked with Johnny to get it all together? I'm sure they'll make all the corrections before releasing it to everyone.

Brian and Reggie. I know Reggie from the shows, so he helped make sure we were getting what we needed.
