Default Turbonetics Kit Question

Long story:
Okay, here I go... So I find a place online which claimed to have a kit for my 93' prelude (TN-15119) which has a non-vtech H23 motor. I specifically asked the sales guy for that kit number and asked if it came with a case of oil because other places didn't list the case of oil as part of the kit, being that this is a discontinued kit i was hoping to get my hands on it!
After a week I had to call the guy on three separate occasions to email me an invoice which I finally got. A week after that I got the kit, upon receiving I opened everything and inspected all the hardware. Initially I noticed there was no oil! So I called the guy and left a message I guess they were closed. Then, heres the biggie, I see the parts list and at the top a big TN-15121... which is for the H22 motor, I was pissed! I also noticed that the kit was from turbokits.com which had their prelude turbo kits for $2999.99 I paid $3700.00! Okay so now I call turbonetics and ask them the differences between the kits and they say of course the FIC and maybe the piping/downpipe by a hair... So I thought maybe I can deal with that and adjust the FIC. The next day I call the vendor again and tell him my findings. He said that TURBOKITS.COM adjusted the FIC for my engine and assured him that the header and piping would fit. So naturally I call TURBOKITS.COM and ask them about my order. They take a look at my invoice and say that there are no special notes as to them doing anything to the FIC and that they don't even adjust those and that the kit is for the H22 motor and that they don't have the H23 kits anymore! Just yesterday I go outside to check the fitment of the header and sure enough the bolt holes are a bit off... So what to do???

1-Return it and hope to find an H23 kit
2-Toss the FIC and turbo header get a hondata, fuel injectors, and a new turbo header and make the kit work with my hammer!
3-Call the vendor and talk to the manger and b@tch and b*tch and b%tch!
4-Something I haven't thought of yet...

Also has anyone noticed that the log type turbo headers from turbonetics are not very well made... The one that came in my kit looks pretty primitive, lots of flow inhibiting areas where the pipes and welds are...

Hello TheOdd001,

Sorry to hear of your troubles... Who did you purchase the kit from? It sounds like they may be confused on the part as a whole. We do not adjust the FIC or any of the piping on any kits we sell.

Well I wasn't gonna say who the vendor was but I called them today and spoke to a different person. They said that they would look into it and make things right which I hope means I'll be happy... but the vendor is SLOW BOY RACING. I'll keep updating once I hear more...

Good, hopefully they will make it right for you... I also called my rep at slowboy to make sure they realized that it is a priority to help you.

A side note for anyone looking on our site. There is a "For Engines" listing next to most kits. This is a good way to make sure the right product being ordered.

So I called SlowBoyRacing, since they didn't take the time to call me, and the resolution is:
The fuel mapping is not different.... Hard to believe....
I guess Turbonetics is sending me the H23 header that they had laying around.... hard to believe... because they don't have that kit anymore....

Well that sounds alright I guess, except for the fact that I'm out $400 dollars because if I knew SBR didn't carry the H23 kit I would have purchased the H22 kit directly from TURBOKITS.com, saved $700 dollars and bought a H23 turbo header online somewhere which range from $200-$300...

Just to clarify, this is all SlowBoyRacing's fault in my opinion, I should have just dealt with TURBOKITS.com directly and saved some money!

Well a couple updates...

First, the header that I got in the kit apparently was unfinished. I'm sending it to Turbokits.com and their gonna see to it that only quality products are being produced and giving me store credit or something along the lines of that!

Second, I'm actually getting the H23 header straight from turbonetics!

Finally even though SBR seemed forgetful at times I'm sure they meant no harm I guess there was just a mix-up in the part number...

Can't wait to start work!

Default UPDATE!

I wish I had good news... So two weeks later, no word on the header...

I called Slow Boy Racing to ask for a status, The reply was "let me talk to my contact and I'll get back to you as soon as I know something" What the F*!!!

Three days later no response so I take the initiative and contact Slow Boy Racing again... This time, "I just talked to my contact as soon as they get it in the mail they will let me know" What the F*!!! He said that it was in the mail 2 weeks ago!!!

Just the FACTS:

i purchased the kit March 28, 2008 it is now May 11, 2008

Two weeks later I received the WRONG kit

The kit came with NO OIL, but advertised as coming with a case

Had to prove through email and digital photos that it was the wrong kit

Have been waiting a month for the correct header

Spent an extra $700 to get the right kit, a case of oil, and prompt shipping as promised, DIDN'T HAPPEN!

Now I'm irritated!

End FACTS...

The plus is while I've been sitting on my arse waiting, i've decided to throw out the Fuel Controller, Extra Fuel Injectors, and the MSD Boost Timing Controller. Did a little research and now I'm planning on a S300 Hondata p72 ecu with bigger injectors which I think will be a much better and reliable setup...

I'm done venting... Talk to yall in two weeks!

Default H22 Kit on an H23

I?m a little late in the game, but I purchased an FMAX/Turbonetics Turbo Kit and I am currently installing it. I own a H23A Honda Prelude. I purchased the kit you didn?t want (H22) knowing that it wouldn?t fit my H23. By being patient, I recently found the H23 manifold on craigslist for $150 brand new!

From what I found, the below are the differences between the kit:

Manifold
H23 has evenly spaced ports where as the H22 does not

Downpipe
H22 has a shorter downpipe at the bottom end than the H23.
You will have to purchase the H22 exhaust mid section or purchase an aftermarket H22 exhaust?or get the downpipe modified.

The Missing Link I received with the kit is made for a 97-up prelude. I have to purchase the 92-96 Missing Link.

I?m glad Turbonetics was willing to get you an H23 manifold. I tried emailing and calling around, but no one was willing to help me. I was willing to spend up to $400 for it too. Oh well.

I also want to installing coolant lines to the turbo, but don?t know which coolant line to splice from. I was thinking about the lines running through the IACV. Can anyone help?

For coolant lines you can use the lines that feed the heater core in the dash. You should see two coolant lines running into the firewall tap those. Turbonetics makes a water line kit you could use with all the necessary hardware to do that. Part number: Most FWD cars (w/ 36?? lines) P/N 11404

I ordered an H23 Missing Link from Ebay and it came in this past weekend. The install is now complete, but the car doesn't seem to have the torque I assumed it would possess. The car also seems extremely slow for a turbocharged car.

Blow off valve dumps into atmosphere aggressively, but there's no real power at high rpm. I can feel a tiny bit of torque at 2.5K - 3K RPM, but that's about it. the MSD BTM is set to the number 2.

After hitting boost for a while, I remove the additional injectors and can smell gas fumes so I'm assuming they work. However, I took the cover off the MAP Sensor (that goes to the FIC) and was not able to see any LED light up after rev'ing the motor.

Since this kit is supposed to be straight out of the box, does anyone have ideas on what I can do to mitigate these issues besides dyno-tuning?

MSD BTM settings including Start Point knob settings found on the MSD BTM?

Spark plug gap?
