Installing new compressor impeller and housing
I am getting ready to install a 60-1 HiFi comp wheel and housing and was wondering if there are any specific instructions on doing this (like what is torque spec on the comp wheel retaining nut) or how do you hold the impeller while tightening the retaining nut or do you need to worry about rebalancing the unit etc.
Thanks,
Andy

Yes if you are replacing the compressor wheel the entire rotating assembly needs to be rebalanced or that turbo isnt going to last very long. I would recommend doing this work on your own.

I live in the Chicago area. Is there someone in the midwest who does turbo rebalancing or do I send it back to Turbonetics or?

I would recommend sending it to Turbonetics. I don't know of any smaller shops with a VSR. If its a ball bearing unit Turbonetics is the only place that can balance it properlly.
