Default Spring specs

I purchased a turbo kit a few years ago and it came with a evolution wastegate. It appears the install sheet I got differs from the one you have poster here on the site. I assumed I had the 5 lb spring in when in fact it was the 9 lb. I swapped out the gauge because I thought it was defective then I just assumed it was boost creep. Now I'm needing to replace my tranny due to too much boost. Sucks to be me.

which kit was it? I'm not aware of any Turbonetics kit that run less then 8 PSI intake mani pressure out of box. As a result every kit in production uses a 9 PSI spring in the wastegate as after the pressure drop across the intercooler core and charge piping it comes out to ~8 PSI of intake manifold pressure.

Shouldn't matter which kit it was in, the documentation supplied should match the components. The point I'm trying to make is that your documentation I have with the wastegate is wrong and it has caused me some grief.

Obviously no one is perfect and mistakes can be made and obviously the documentation error was corrected. It does matter which it was in as like I said before all Turbonetics complete turbo systems ship with the 9 PSI spring pre-installed from the factory and no additional springs. If the spring was altered from that of the one it originally shipped with as part of the complete system I can see the error being made but in this case that would have lowered your boost pressure. Additionally while I see that the wrong color being run might have caused a different pressure ratio then you were expecting i do believe you already stated that you noted the boost pressure was off with a gauge and continued running that way.

Yes the mistake was corrected. We all make mistakes.

The kit wasn't a turbonetics kit, it just has a evolution wastegate and a raptor BOV and a competitors turbo. It's on a 3.5 Honda V6 in a sandrail. I purchased the kit from Vtec Performance in Salem Oregon. I want to run less boost because the car is too much of a handfull not to mention the tranny can't handle it.

I see. Makes a little more sense now as I was thinking this was a Turbonetics designed kit which through me off. I must say I'm very sorry to hear this mistake caused you soem confusion. Thats part of the reason I started this board so that all the info possible can be out in the open.
